Bumrah to Be Considered Only for Full-Series Availability

As a result, the BCCI is inclined to revise its policy, considering Bumrah for selection only if he is available for the entire series. The board has also emphasized that the medical team must provide their fitness status before each selection meeting.

“Strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches can set workload thresholds for each player. But Bumrah's availability should depend on his fitness, which will be assessed by the medical team,” a BCCI source told TOI..

This ongoing series is India’s last five-match Test assignment of the year away from home. They will next face South Africa and the West Indies at home, with both being two-match Test series, where workload management is unlikely to be a major concern.
