England Masters

Eoin Morgan and Tim Ambrose both scored half-centuries to lead England Masters to their highest total of the tournament, posting 209/3.

Morgan won the toss and chose to bat first on the flat track in Raipur, making it a favorable decision for England. Batters were expected to score freely on this surface. England’s opening pair, Morgan and Phil Mustard, took to the crease while Ben Hilfenhaus bowled the new ball for Australia Masters, under the captaincy of Shane Watson.

England Masters got off to a steady start, with Morgan showing his intent by hitting a six to open his account. The team had a solid power play, with Morgan playing aggressively while Mustard, at the other end, played cautiously. Mustard held his wicket until the seventh over when he was dismissed by Bryce McGain, giving Australia Masters their first breakthrough as England reached 76/1.

Morgan continued to play well and was later joined by Tim Ambrose, who quickly picked up the pace. Morgan reached his fifty but, looking to score more runs, he was dismissed by Steve O’Keefe for a well-made 64 off 32 balls.

Despite Morgan's departure, Ambrose maintained the momentum and batted superbly, consistently hitting at least one boundary per over with ease. Ambrose also reached his fifty in style with a four and showcased his incredible form, finishing with 69 runs off 44 balls. England Masters ultimately achieved a total of 209/3, thanks to solid contributions from D. Maddy, who scored 29 runs off 19 balls, and Tim Bresnan, who added 18 runs off 8 balls.

However, the big question is whether this total is enough. Australia scored over 260 runs in their last innings with relative ease, and given the current form of Shane Watson and Ben Dunk, this target may seem achievable. Nevertheless, chasing on this pitch has proven to be slightly more challenging, particularly when spinners come into play. Stay tuned to see the big chase unfold as Australia Masters aim for their third consecutive win.
