T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill is having all the fun and fervor of the heat of the epic India vs Pakistan clash on September 14 in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The right-hand batter made a roaring comeback in his return to the T20Is after one year by scoring a breezy, unbeaten 20 in India's opening match against the UAE. Following the team's nine-wicket win, the Test skipper took to social media with a simple yet strong message ahead of India's clash against arch-rivals Pakistan.
The new India under Suryakumar Yadav is fearless on and off the field. The players don't shy away from expressing themselves and often walk the talk.

Taking to his official X handle, Gill shared numerous photos of India's thumping win over the UAE, where he himself featured alongside the bowling group and Abhishek Sharma too. However, what caught everyone's attention was the strong caption on the social media post, which read: "Step One."

While the two-word caption is simple, it conveys a strong message that India mean business and are here to defend their Asia Cup 2025 title. The message of Step One refers to India conquering the UAE, and Step Two refers to winning against Pakistan. While the vice-captain has ignited the flame, now he will ensure that he carries that on-field when he takes on Men In Green in Dubai on Sunday.

For the unversed, the UAE were not a match to India as they could not even bat complete 20 overs, as they were shot out for just 57 in 13.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav played a starring role with the ball in hand as he picked up four wickets. Shivam Dube chipped in with a career best 3-4 as UAE batters just could not get going in their innings, which saw wickets fall in procession.

Chasing just 58, Abhishek Sharma got India's innings with a six, and from there it was no looking back as the Men in Blue completed the chase in just 4.3 overs, registering their biggest T20I win with regard to balls to spare. Gill played one of the shots of the tournament so far by flicking the ball over square leg for a glorious six. He remained unbeaten on 20, and did not show any nerves after playing a T20I after a one-year gap.
