Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday. Despite a stunning century by the LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who scored an unbeaten 118 runs off 61 balls, LSG suffered a six-wicket defeat as RCB successfully chased down the target of 228 runs in just 18.4 overs.Â
Following the final league match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed a fine of INR 30 lakh on Pant for maintaining a slow over-rate. This was LSG's third over-rate offence of the season. The previous violations occurred on April 5 and April 26.Â
Each member of the playing XI, and the Impact Player, was fined INR 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their match fee, whichever was lesser. Â

INR 30 Lakh Blow for Rishabh Pant After LSG’s Exit from IPL 2025
Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during LSG’s clash against RCB.Â
Notably, under the revised IPL 2025 regulations, a third slow over-rate offence results only in a monetary penalty and not a one-match suspension, which was the case in previous seasons.
"Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 70 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday," an IPL statement read.
"As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 30 Lakh. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," it added.
In the match, Pant's swashbuckling innings of 118 runs featured 11 fours and eight sixes as he took LSG's total to 227 runs for the loss of three wickets. He shared a 152-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh, who scored 67 runs off 37 balls. Â
However, RCB's chase was bolstered by Jitesh Sharma's unbeaten 85 runs off 33 balls. The captain led from the front and propelled RCB to a victory in a historic run-chase that saw them secure a berth in Qualifier 1 for the first time in IPL since 2016. Â
