CSK IPL 2025 qualification scnarios

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, cheer up as there is good news in store for your favorite team, which can still make it to the playoffs of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. CSK suffered a five-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. This was their seventh loss in nine games, making their qualification for playoffs a bit tougher.

With this latest loss, CSK will now need to win all five of their games to make it to the playoffs. However, that also would not guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. If CSK ends up winning all five games, they will end up with 14 points. In the last season of IPL 2024, CSK, RCB, DC, and LSG were all locked with 14 points. RCB made it through playoffs on account of a superior net run rate. That was also the first instance of a team qualifying with 14 points, with seven wins, when IPL started to have 10 teams in a season.

CSK can draw inspiration from RCB and try to make it to the playoffs with five wins. All wins need to be with a big margin, as CSK's current net run rate is on the negative side.

CSK continues to struggle despite making changes to the squad

Notably, CSK, who are not known to chop and change, included three players in their match. One of them, Dewald Brevis, made his CSK debut. Sam Curran and Deepak Hooda returned to the playing XI. However, there was no change in the result as CSK lost yet another home game in Chepauk. This was CSK's fourth loss at home, making it their joint-most losses at home in IPL.

Currently, CSK is languishing at the bottom of the points table with only four points. CSK will next take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 30 at Chepauk.
