However, recent reports have confirmed that KL Rahul declined the offer and prefers to continue as a player under someone else’s captaincy.
Delhi Capitals signed KL Rahul for ₹14 crore at the auction. Since then, he has put up some great performances for India. Rahul recently made significant contributions to India’s Champions Trophy 2025 triumph, where his new role as a finisher was executed perfectly. He scored 142 runs in 4 innings, remaining not out in three of them. His 42-run knock against Australia was especially impressive, helping India reach the finals of the tournament.

Axar Patel - New Captain?
With KL Rahul declining the captaincy, Axar Patel automatically becomes the primary candidate for the leadership role.
