India Women's Team Vice-Captain Smriti Mandhana has attained pole position in the latest ICC Women's ODI Ranking for batters. The southpaw got to the first position after six long years. The stylish batter dethroned South Africa's captain, Laura Wolvaardt, who lost 19 points for her lackluster performance in the ODI tri-series involving India and Sri Lanka.
Currently, Mandhana has 727 rating points, while England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is placed in second position with 719 points, followed by Wolvaardt. Besides the southpaw, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues are the other only two Indian batters placed in the top 20, being placed 14th and 15th respectively.

Fight for number one ODI batter intensifies, as India set to tour England for white-ball series
Number one-ranked Mandhana and number two-ranked Sciver-Brunt will go head-to-head as India will tour England for five T20Is and three ODI matches. The series will be vital, especially in the ODI games, as both these stronger teams look to finalize their respective playing XIs ahead of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup. Mandhana topping the ODI batters list would have come as a big relief for India, who will be looking to clinch their maiden World Cup at home.
The southpaw, who returned to the top position after last seen in 2019, will be keen to maintain that position as India gears up to face England.
