Cricket, known as the gentleman’s game, witnessed an unfortunate and heated moment during a red-ball match between Bangladesh Emerging and South Africa Emerging teams in Dhaka.

What was expected to be a fixture for young players to display their skills turned into a scene of aggression and physical confrontation, one that has since gone viral on social media.

During a four-day red-ball match between the Bangladesh Emerging Team and the South Africa Emerging Team in Dhaka, an on-field altercation took place between South African off-spinner Tshepo Ntuli and Bangladeshi batter Ripon Mondol.

Ugly On-Field Clash Mars Bangladesh vs South Africa Emerging Test

Emotions boiled over between South African off-spinner Ntuli and Bangladeshi tailender Mondol. It all began with a six over deep mid-wicket and soon escalated into a physical scuffle that shocked viewers.

The tension began shortly after Mondol launched Ntuli for a maximum as the bowler gave him a cold stare. Ntuli stormed up to Mondol, leading to a face-to-face altercation. Things turned ugly when Ntuli grabbed Mondol’s helmet multiple times in a forceful and aggressive manner.

On-field umpire Kamruzzaman rushed to separate the two, but neither team showed urgency in calming the situation. Instead, several South African players surrounded Mondol.

In response, the Bangladeshi batter removed his helmet in apparent defiance. Just a few deliveries later, Ntuli flung the ball towards Mondol after he had blocked it, forcing the batter to duck out of harm’s way.

"This is extreme, this is unacceptable. Normally we see verbal altercations in a cricket field but we don't often see a scuffle. Ntuli struck Ripon's helmet at one point," commentator Nabil Kaiser said as quoted.
